«جواهر شاپینگ» نام زنی ۳۰ ساله اهل کارولینای شمالی است که از کودکی آرزوی عجیب نابینا بودن را داشته و همیشه ادای آدم‌های نابینا را در می‌آورد.
این علاقه تا آنجا پیش رفته که در سال ۲۰۰۶ با ریختن قطره‌های بی‌حسی در چشمانش و تخلیه چشم توسط پزشک، خود را نابینا کرد تا به گفته خودش زندگی شادتری داشته باشد!
